Well-executed space thriller

At one level, 'Tik Tik Tik' is inspired by the 1998 Hollywood blockbuster 'Armageddon', but the film comes with a blend of its unique, complete with nativity. Once the mission is set, director Shakti Soundar Rajan springs some surprises down the plot; though not so entirely unpredictable, the stage is set with a strict timeline to save the world. The film shoots off into space without wasting much time. The rescue team relies heavily on Jayam Ravi?s area of expertise to con and retrieve a crucial weapon. The space scenes, especially when the actors lose gravity, comes with a brilliant execution. Light-hearted banter makes it more enjoyable. For all its cinematic liberties, 'Tik Tik Tik' is a well-executed space thriller that comes with gripping moments, fine performances and more.

Routine Masala In Space

Director Shakti Soundar Rajan's idea to make a space thriller is appreciable. It is not every day that we watch movies belonging to space. However, he has failed to make full use of the setting and only follows standard plot points seen in Hollywood space flicks. Right from the opening Tik Tik Tik feels derivative. There is nothing in it apart from the few comedy moments to give it a local feel. Overall, Tik Tik Tik is a regular and predictable masala fare in a different setting and that?s about it.

Space Thriller

On a whole, Tik Tik Tik is a new age space thriller which provides a different experience to the viewers. Good graphics, interesting setup, and strong performances are major advantages. However, the movie has its own share of flaws and that may obstruct the flow for a section of the audience who are not used to such subjects. If you are a big fan of space thrillers, give this movie a try and witness the first-of-a-kind attempt in Indian cinema which ends up as a decent watch this weekend.
